Did you get my email?

It’s 7am.

I just sat down at my desk and am ready to face my business day. I’m alert and ready to go.

The first thing on my agenda?

Reading email.

I’m reading email because I subscribe to over 20 email newsletters.

I’m a HUGE fan of email marketing for business and the marketing VALUE it brings to a business. Especially a local business.

(Heck, I’m even a Constant Contact Local Expert and All Star All Star for 2 years running. Not bad for a Victoria BC online marketing & social media company eh?)

Email marketing is by and far the most important aspect of any business marketing plan. It’s the easiest and least expensive way to connect with your current clients and customers. It’s also the most fun!

Why email?

Think about it. Everybody has an email address.

  • The President of the United States.
  • Your favourite movie star.
  • The barrista that served you coffee today.
  • And even your mom!

Stats show that 94% of Internet users between the ages of 18 and 64 send or read email. Compare that to 61% who use social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter.

I’m no math whiz, yet I think that means all of your business customers have an email address. You remember your existing customers don’t you?

Those are the folks who are your best source for new business. The very same folks who will make up the majority of your next month’s business sales!

Is this making sense yet?

Email marketing helps you keep in regular communication with customers who want to hear from you. Customers who have chosen to be in regular communication with you.

We’re not talking spam here. We’re talking:

  • Delivering professional email communications
  • To an interested audience
  • Containing information they find valuable

Spam looks like this:

Typical Spam From & Subject Lines

The words: free, guarantee, spam, credit card etc. ALL CAPITAL LETTERS
Excessive punctuation !!!, ???
Excessive use of “click here”
$$, and other symbols No “From:” address Misleading subject lines

An email newsletter from your business looks like this:

  • 3 new recipes that will make your party planning perfect
  • Can you believe this weather? I’d say you need one of these
  • You told me to remind you about this the last time you were in.
  • Have you seen our newest pics on our Facebook page?
